Ashton Keynes Village Hall

Welcome to the Information Page

The Venue

The Village Hall is the centre of our community. It is used by hundreds of Village people each year for regular group and activity meetings ranging from Baby & Toddler through to Golden Years. It is used for Parties, Discos, Dances, Performances, Receptions, Rural Cinema, etc. as well as for Fetes, Bazaars and local elections. In fact, our Village Hall is licensed (under the Licensing Act 2003) for everything except boxing and wrestling! In May 2008 we were awarded Hallmark 1 and Hallmark 2 quality standards.

It is an ideal venue for people both inside and outside of Ashton Keynes. We have a substantial car park and a bus stop right outside.

The Main Hall has been redecorated and the chairs replaced – just look at the Photo Gallery to see the décor and how a large function can be laid out. The Main Hall caters for 120 people comfortably sitting. More people can attend if there is a mixture of sitting and standing (or dancing). There are 130 upholstered chairs and a further seven with wide bases and arms. We have a number of plastic chairs (both large and small) if required. There are plenty of tables in a variety of sizes.

The Ashton Keynes Room is a smaller room that, if required, can be partitioned into two, both with their own entrance and exit doors. Should a function be large enough to require both rooms, the Ashton Keynes room provides a superb location for the Bar and/or presentation of the catering.

Shared facilities include a kitchen, male and female toilets, a separate disabled toilet with baby change facilities. The Hall meets with the current standards and recommendations for disabled access.

We are very happy to recommend caterers and assist in sorting out a bar. A Temporary Event Notice is not required as the Hall is fully licensed.

If you have any questions regarding the venue, contact any of the people listed below.

The telephone number for bookings is 08452 606 828. The Scale of Charges can be found within the Files/Downloads section, together with lots of other useful information.

You can check availability on www.akvh.org.uk - if you are a regular User of the Hall, ask Dave Sheppard for a username & password to the bookings site, then you can make your own bookings.

Management

A Management Committee made up primarily of elected Members from the community runs Ashton Keynes Village Hall. In addition to the Elected Members, we have a nominated person from the Village Hall Users Group and a representative from the Parish Council. The Management Committee look after both the day-to-day operation of the Hall as well as long term planning to ensure the existence of the venue for many years to come. The Village Hall is a Registered Charity (1059462) and so the Members of the Management Committee are Managing Trustees of the Charity. The building is owned by the Parish Council who are the Custodian Trustees.

A full list of Management Committee Members can be found within the download section of this website. In the same area you will find the Constitution of the Committee and lots of other documents relating to using the Hall.

In addition, the Management Committee actively sponsor and encourage a Village Hall Users Group. This is made up of Representatives from the regular users and serves as a forum to discuss issues that relate to using the Hall. There is a ‘direct link’ between the Users Group and the Management Committee as someone is nominated as the Users Group spokesperson on the Management team. Equally, the Users Group invites Members of the Management Committee to attend their meetings to handle any urgent problems and obtain feedback on future plans.

Any regular user group can (and should) attend Users Group meetings . They are not Trustees of the Charity and do not have to be formally registered, hence they can swap and change at will. For more information on the Users Group contact Terry Stuart on (01285) 861218. The Constitution of the Users Group can be found within the download section of the website.
