The Ashton Keynes Reading Group was formed in 1991. It is a small group that meets in members' homes in the third week of the month on Tuesday evenings, to discuss a book that we have all read. There are about 12 members of the group, and generally 6 - 8 attend each meeting.

Six books at a time are chosen by a subset of the group, on a rotation basis. Most of the books are novels, with the occasional exception. We try to achieve a mixture of male and female, and English and foreign writers, reading more contemporary than classic work. We do not meet in July or August, because of holidays, and to give members a chance to read something of their own choice! We celebrate the Christmas season with party food and drink, sometimes at our January meeting, and sometimes at a separate social meeting in December with a literary quiz or similar to amuse us.

We have no officers or committee.
