Cotswold Water Park Trust
The Cotswold Water Park Trust – your local charity working for wildlife and people.
Ashton Keynes is located within the area known as the Cotswold Water Park - 40 square miles of Gloucestershire and Wiltshire countryside shaped over the past sixty years through gravel extraction. During this time more than 150 lakes have been created, providing a huge range of lesiure activities along with diverse habitats for waterbirds, otters, dragonflies, fish and even beavers !
The Cotswold Water Park Trust was set up a few years ago as a fully registered charity and has now formally taken over the responsibilities formerly undertaken by the CWP Society. For more information of the aims of the Trust please visit the website www.waterpark.org.
But briefly....
What do we do?
We’re the Cotswold Water Park Trust and we’re here to make a difference, for you and for the wildlife of the Cotswold Water Park, through conservation, education, promotion and involvement.
We fundraise for a wide range of projects: more and better public paths, improved parking facilities, the creation of nature reserves and campaigns to protect endangered species like the water vole, otters, bats and Black Poplar.
We manage hundreds of acres of land, from Neighbridge Country Park to Riverside Park at Lechlade, for the benefit of local people, visitors and wildlife.
We promote better understanding through our schools education programme and exciting public events - like our sell-out fossil hunts, talks and workshops.
